Dr. Hennen boasts a unique blend of experiences, skills, and passions. Her personal journey spans four continents, coupled with extensive education and training in Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Beyond her diverse background, she is a distinguished expert in advanced eye imaging and procedures.
Dr. Hennen attained her medical degree from the esteemed Russian State Medical University in Moscow, Russia. Following this, she undertook comprehensive clinical and surgical training in ophthalmology in the United Kingdom, before relocating to the United States. Here, she completed fellowships in ocular pathology and pediatric ophthalmology research at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Her pursuit of excellence led her to further glaucoma research fellowships at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City. She also engaged in a surgery internship at the Medical University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Finally, she capped her journey with an ophthalmology residency at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis and a clinical fellowship in glaucoma at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.
Remaining at the forefront of ophthalmology, Dr. Hennen is an esteemed member of the American Glaucoma Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. She has served as a reviewer for the American Journal of Ophthalmology and boasts an impressive portfolio of over 30 peer-reviewed publications. Additionally, she held the role of a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Washington University in St. Louis from 2011-2013 and was honored with the Faculty Career Development Award from the Washington University School of Medicine.
